The celebration that became a trap
When the employees decided to throw a party to celebrate the official appointment of the new director, they invited almost everyone connected to the company. Someone, with the best of intentions, thought it would be appropriate to include the mother of the previous owner as well.
The woman arrived dressed completely in black. He barely exchanged words with the guests and remained most of the time by a window, watching in silence. From time to time, she cast cold glances at her daughter-in-law, who attended to the attendees naturally.
When the music dimmed and several guests came out to the skyscraper’s upper terrace to enjoy the nighttime views of the city, the young director approached the glass railing. It was then that her mother-in-law approached from behind.
For a few seconds, they both remained silent. Then, the older woman uttered a sentence that revealed all her accumulated resentment:

The daughter-in-law barely managed to turn around to respond when she felt the push. Her yellow dress rose into the air as she lost her balance and fell into the void. The mother-in-law was convinced that, without the heiress, the estate would end up coming into her hands sooner or later, as the only living relative of the late businessman.
