Public perception may be one of the biggest obstacles. Many people feel uncomfortable with the idea of consuming anything connected to cockroaches. Even if the final product were produced in a laboratory without insects being present, convincing consumers could take years.
Yet history shows that unusual foods can eventually gain acceptance. Foods such as sushi, plant-based meat alternatives, and edible insects have all faced skepticism before becoming more widely accepted in certain markets.
